Designed for students who already play chess tournaments or want to start competing in rated tournaments. This program is ideal for players with a USCF rating of 800+ who are ready to improve their skills, gain confidence, and become stronger competitors.

Students will work on tactics, calculation, strategy, opening principles, endgames, positional play, and tournament preparation. Through challenging positions, practice games, and game analysis, students will learn how to think more effectively and make stronger decisions over the board.

The program will also help students prepare for rated tournaments, manage tournament games, recognize critical moments, and learn from their mistakes.

Students will play practice games during class to develop their tournament skills and gain experience playing under competitive conditions. After a rated tournament, students can bring their games to class and review them with the instructor, helping them understand their mistakes, recognize good opportunities, and learn from their decisions while the games are still fresh in their minds.
